The battle of California rages on when the San Francisco 49ers (1-1) head south to face the Los Angeles Rams (0-2).
The 49ers woes in Minnesota continued last week when their former quarterback Sam Darnold torched his old squad. The offense looked like it misses Christian McCaffrey but the defense was surprisingly exposed. Now that Deebo Samuel is hurt, the backups are going to have to step up for San Francisco.
Week 2 could not have gone any worse for Los Angeles. Not only did they get overpowered by the Arizona Cardinals, but the Rams lost another star receiver in Cooper Kupp. It’s been a rough start, and Sean McVay’s team desperately needs a win.

Lorenzo Reyes: 49ers 22, Rams 16
It’s always interesting when Kyle Shanahan faces off against Sean McVay. And while I have no doubt that the 49ers will bounce back, their injury issues — Deebo Samuel is expected to miss a few weeks — backing San Francisco at more than a touchdown seems a bit too rich.
Tyler Dragon: 49ers 28, Rams 19
The 49ers are without Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel. The Rams are minus Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. Who will win this battle of the wounded? The 49ers have won nine of their last 11 against the Rams (including playoffs).
Richard Morin: 49ers 32, Rams 14
It was a tough showing last week for San Francisco, and they’ll miss Deebo Samuel in this one. However, they still have plenty of gas to rebound against the Rams.
Jordan Mendoza: 49ers 26, Rams 17
It’s unfortunate there are so many injuries because this would be a fun matchup to watch at full strength. The Rams are hurting right now and it’ll be tough to go against the defense without key receivers. Add in the fact it will basically be a home game for San Francisco and it results in a comfortable 49ers win.
