GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–Oct, 3, 2016 – Darryl Elmouchi, MD, MBA, has been named chief medical officer, Spectrum Health Hospital Group. Elmouchi, currently cardiovascular division chief, assumes the position October 10.
In his new role, Elmouchi will assist in setting the strategic direction for the hospital group. He will lead initiatives that support Spectrum Health strategy, such as clinical service line development, care coordination and quality efforts. His responsibilities will extend throughout Spectrum Health’s 12 hospitals and other care sites.

Elmouchi most recently served as chief, division of cardiovascular medicine, Spectrum Health Medical Group, and chair, department of cardiovascular medicine, Spectrum Health Hospitals. He also holds an appointment as assistant professor of medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
While at Spectrum Health, Elmouchi served as medical director, cardiac electrophysiology from 2010 to 2014, and at West Michigan Heart as a cardiac electrophysiologist starting in 2006. Elmouchi also held clinical positions at University of Michigan Health System and University of California, San Francisco.
His educational credentials include a medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School; a master’s degree in business administration from University of Michigan Ross School of Business; a certificate in biostatistics from University of Michigan School of Public Health; and a bachelor’s degree in history from University of California, Los Angeles. Elmouchi completed his internship, residency and chief residency at University of California, San Francisco, and fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular medicine at University of Michigan Health System.
