Skrillex and Fred Again.., two of the world’s most renowned DJs and electronic music artists, have unveiled their plan to “throw a rave” right in the heart of San Francisco.
The EDM titans hinted at the upcoming performance on social media last week, suggesting they have an abundance of new music they’re eager to test out on a live audience.
Confirming the event details on Tuesday, May 28, the duo revealed that the last-minute show will take place in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, directly across from City Hall and the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, on Saturday, June 1.
This marks the first appearance in the city for both artists since their performances at Portola Music Festival — Fred Again.. in 2022 and Skrillex last year.
Their first show together at Madison Square Garden in 2023, alongside Four Tet, sold out in three minutes. They followed that with a headlining performance at that year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, stepping in to replace Frank Ocean on the final night’s headline slot at the Southern California concert.
The artists are touring separately. Skrillex, a Los Angeles native whose real name is Sonny Moore, headlined the Lightning in a Bottle festival near Bakersfield over the weekend, while Fred Again.., the Brian Eno-mentored British music producer born Fred Gibson, is slated to headline three nights at the Frost Amphitheater in Stanford from Tuesday-Thursday, June 4-6.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency expects approximately 20,000 people to attend Saturday’s outdoor concert.
