SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco’s troubled San Francisco City Centre mall was dealt another blow this week with the announcement that another business will soon shutter. Luxury day spa Burke Williams confirmed to KRON4.com that it would be closing its location at the mall, citing safety concerns.

The decision to close the spa, “comes as the city’s failure to address the growing safety concerns and deteriorating conditions in the downtown area, which has made it impossible for the spa to continue operating,” a spokesperson said.

“Despite the company’s strong financial health, the increasing crime, including break-ins, thefts, and violent incidents near the spa, has made it clear that the safety of staff and clients must come first,” they continued.
The departure of the mall’s two longstanding anchor businesses, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s, has made the situation at the mall “untenable,” the spokesperson added.
Burke Williams spa had been operating at the mall for nearly 20 years. The spa will remain open during its regular hours until the planned closure, according to a statement on its website.
