United will launch a brand new San Francisco-Adelaide route from December 2025, the first time a commercial airline will operate between the city pairs.
Starting 11 December, United will launch the first nonstop flights between the US and Adelaide in time for the Australian summer. With the addition of this three times weekly seasonal service, United will be the leading carrier to Australia from the continental US also offering flights to Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
The seasonal service will be operated on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and builds on United’s leading network coverage, making United the only airline to offer nonstop service between the US and four major cities in Australia. These routes, combined with the airline’s partnership with Virgin Australia, offer travellers more choice and access across the country.
Adelaide Airport Limited described it as “an historic announcement” both for the airport and for South Australia, highlighting the potential to increase services on the route as demand grows.
