The San Francisco 49ers needed to inject some youth on a defense that saw some ups and downs last season and they managed to land a big time talent in the 2025 NFL Draft by taking Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams with the eleventh overall pick.
Williams is a super athlete who projects well as a full time edge defender at the next level and looks to compliment Nick Bosa incredibly well. With length, speed, and power, Williams is the new prototype for a 4-3 edge in San Francisco and is a slam dunk pick for a team that is quite good at developing defensive talent at the next level. Look for Williams to see plenty of playing time early on in his career.
