Kansas State football safety Marques Sigle became the third Wildcat to go off the board when the San Francisco 49ers chose him with the No. 160 overall pick Saturday in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Sigle made the most of his time at K-State as a two-year starter for the Wildcats after transferring from North Dakota State. Much like teammates Jacob Parrish and DJ Giddens, he helped his cause with an impressive performance at the NFL Scouting combine, ranking among the fastest safeties with a 4.37-second time in the 40-yard dash while also performing well in the vertical (38 inches) and broad jump (10 feet, 10 inches).

Sigle tied for the team lead in tackles with 63 as a junior and followed that with 60 stops, 6.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions while starting all 13 games for the Wildcats last season.

Here’s what Sigle brings to the San Francisco 49ers, based on his career with Kansas State.

The positives

Sigle, who started his career as a cornerback, has the versatility to play multiple positions in the secondary, and he is a big hitter who excels in run support. His speed is a definite asset wherever he lines up.

The concerns

Sigle’s eagerness to make plays against the run has a downside in that he can be reckless at times, leading to missed tackle. Another concern is his susceptibility in coverage to get beat over the top on deep balls.

Final thoughts on Marques Sigle

Parrish most likely will play safety or nickel in the NFL, where he will be most effective close to the line of scrimmage. He does not shy away from contact, which along with his speed could make him an asset on special teams as well.
