Following a competitive series at Wrigley Field, the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs are both idle on Thursday, and deservedly so. The Giants managed to win two of three games in Chi-Town, culminating in a tense Wednesday matinée.
The two National League foes battled behind strong efforts from starters Robbie Ray and Ben Brown after splitting the first two games of the week. A chess match of a contest, runs were at a premium as San Francisco ultimately emerged victorious, 3-1.

Admittedly, Wednesday’s tilt was slower paced, but that would not keep this game off the highlight reel (or perhaps ESPN’s “Not Top 10”). Notably, Giants All-Star left fielder Heliot Ramos had himself a forgettable day.

Not only was Ramos 0-3 at the plate, but on the defensive side, multiple fly balls gave him fits. After all, it is nicknamed the “Windy City” for a reason. As you’d imagine, the Cubbies’ raucous fan base took notice, but Ramos decided to hone in on one person in particular.
There were at least two specific plays where Ramos — who was also dueling the Sun all afternoon — showed wobbly legs in left field upon reading a pop up, but one off the bat of Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong in the fourth inning was unable to be tracked down, allowing Chicago’s lone run to score.
We didn’t know it then, but that would be the final scoring play of this Giants-Cubs series. Also, it should be mentioned that Ramos was not tagged with an error at any point over the three games at “The Friendly Confines.” He’s yet to be charged with one in 2025.

Still, in the bottom of the eighth, Ramos set his sites on one specific fan after making a routine put out near the infamous Steve Bartman spot to end the inning. From there, Ramos fired an aggressive pump fake towards the stands, which caught everyone off guard (especially those watching on television).
The Cubs fan directly on the receiving end of the vicious ball fake was discovered to be TikTok user @Chase24.7, who, like everything else in 2025, caught the entire encounter on video.
Chase may have received two for flinching, but he took the confrontation in stride, chronicling the fun day at the yard, telling the Giants official TikTok account, “I had my mitt ready just in case.”
Ramos’ bat was quiet Wednesday, but Chase likely remembered him as Tuesday’s star; Ramos was 4-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in San Francisco’s extra-inning victory.

As noted, both squads are off on Thursday. The Giants are back in action on Friday at the Minnesota Twins while Chicago will travel to Queens for a weekend series with the New York Mets.
