Social media in the US is abuzz about a naked woman’s statue unveiled in San Francisco, California. The statue, measuring 45 feet tall, was unveiled in the Embarcadero Plaza under the name ‘R-Evolution.’ The statue has reportedly been sculpted by Marco Cochrane as the final piece of ‘The Bliss Project’ which he debuted at the Burning Man festival in 2015.
Installed last month with the hopes of attracting more visitors into the city, the statue has instead drawn criticism over the idea.

“This sculpture is about being seen. Women’s presence in public art is rare. When they are depicted, it is often through outdated or passive narratives,” Cochrane reportedly said. “She stands strong, aware, and grounded—calling for a world where all people can walk freely and without fear.”
The statue is made of stainless steel and is supposed to be exhibited for six months with a possibility of extension. But it managed to make netizens uncomfortable and confused. “This is weird,” one user wrote. “This has to be parody, AI. Something,” commented another. “I’d rather have another $1.7million public restroom. Y’Know, something more practical,” a third user wrote.
“Or you could spend your resources on cleaning up the homeless and the crime. Just a thought,” another commented.
