Then the San Francisco 49ers pulled the trigger and traded a 2026 mid-round pick to the reigning Super Bowl champions in exchange for Huff at the end of May.
And he sounds very glad that they did.
In a recent press conference, the 27-year-old edge rusher gave a bit of an insight into his thoughts earlier this offseason, and he showed his appreciation to the Niners making the move to acquire him.
“I had a few places in mind that I definitely wanted to get traded to,” Huff said. “All I was doing is just working out, staying in my routine. Thankfully, it was to San Francisco.”
Huff did not work out that well in his one season with the Eagles, but his time with the New York Jets shows that he can absolutely still get the job done as an attacker of NFL QBs.

In the 2023 season, Huff racked up 10 sacks, 21 quarterback hits, and 29 total tackles. He has had some troubles with injuries as of late, so he and the Niners will be hoping that he can stay on the field and make his impact felt.
San Francisco is coming off of a season during which the club finished with a very disappointing 6-11 record, so Huff and the rest of the team’s defense will be looking to rebound and help lead the team back to the NFC playoffs.
