Local Report: Yakima Pepsi Beetles end losing streak with win in San Francisco | Legion Baseball

SAN FRANCISCO — The Yakima Pepsi Beetles won their second straight game at the San Francisco Tournament, beating Team EPB 9-1 on Saturday.

Yakima is now 2-1 in the tournament and moved back to .500 on the season with a 15-15 record.

Quinton Allen-Greggs earned the win for the Beetles by limiting Team EPB to just one run in the first inning. He gave up four hits and three walks while striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings pitched.

Offensively, Allen-Greggs went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI.

Justin Busey had a two-run double in the bottom of the first to give the Beetles a 2-1 lead.

CJ Acosta had the big hit in the five-run bottom of the third. With the bases loaded, Acosta hit a double to center field that cleared the bases and gave Yakima a 7-1 lead.

The Beetles will continue play at the tournament on Sunday, but their opponent had not been announced.

Pippins drop second game of series to Sweets

WALLA WALLA — The Yakima Valley Pippins’ offense struggled in the second game of a three game series against the Walla Walla Sweets on Saturday, as they lost 5-1.

The Pippins were held to just one hit in the game. They are now 7-22 on the season and in last place in the West Coast League South Division.

Cole Hansen drove in the lone run of the game for Yakima Valley with a two-run double that scored Ethan Hogan.

The Pippins and Sweets will wrap up the series Sunday night.
