Rangers fans are getting excited as fresh investment from the US and the San Francisco 49ers looks to stream into Ibrox.
News broke this week that Rangers are in ‘advanced’ talks with the investment group behind the San Francisco 49ers as the backers behind the NFL giants continue their expansion into British football.
The same group purchased a majority stake in Leeds United last year and have set about returning the fallen English giants to the Premier League.
Similarly, news of fresh US investment at Ibrox has raised hopes that megabucks support from across the Atlantic can Make Rangers Great Again.
San Francisco 49ers eye over 50% Rangers stake
BBC Sport and journalist Tom English have been providing a couple of important updates with regards Rangers’ potential takeover.
The BBC believe that the Rangers takeover from the investment wing of the San Francisco 49ers could be complete between April and June.
This would allow the US consortium to get their feet under the desk at Ibrox in time for the new season and a potential Champions League qualifying campaign.
The report has also moved to clarify that the San Francisco 49ers investment group will be looking to purchase a controlling stake in Rangers of more than 50%.
The BBC have reiterated that Leeds United chairman and 49ers Investments chief Paraag Marathe is central to the deal but claim an unnamed mystery investor is also a key player.
This would be in keeping with the understanding of Rangers News that Marathe is not expected to become Ibrox chairman on completion of the takeover.
Dave King and Ibrox board supportive of Rangers takeover
Dave King remains Rangers’ single biggest shareholder and is said to be supportive of the takeover attempt from the San Francisco 49ers team.
Rangers’ current shareholding is split between seven major shareholders, all of whom would have a vested interest in the US takeover.
Dave King (12.96%) tops the list, with Douglas Park (11.54%), George Alexander Taylor (10.22%), Stuart Gibson (9.53%), John Bennett (7.11%), Julian Wolhardt (6.69%) and Perron Investments (6%) the other major shareholders.

Dave King has had a number of recent run-ins with the Rangers board but the BBC believe there is genuine agreement amongst board members about the need for new energy at Ibrox.
Amid chatter of ‘investor fatigue’, English believes there’s a suggestion the current boardroom are ‘running out of road’ as they look to quell the club’s recent downturn.
It’s claimed that the Rangers board view Marathe and the 49ers team as ‘serious people’ and the takeover could be complete within the next four months.
