The San Francisco 49ers will likely get two of their top offensive players back for Sunday’s Week 4 game against the New England Patriots.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle are both expected to play. Both players were not on the inactive list the 49ers released on Sunday morning.
Kittle will play after being a participant in practice for three consecutive days. Kittle had missed the 49ers’ 27-24 Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams with a hamstring injury. Kittle has 11 receptions for 116 yards and one touchdown in two games.
Samuel returned to practice on Thursday and was a limited participant. Head coach Kyle Shanahan initially said Samuel was expected to be out a couple weeks with the calf strain he sustained against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2, but he completed the comeback ahead of schedule.
Quarterback Brock Purdy experienced some back pain earlier in the week, but an MRI came back with no significant injury and he was a full participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday. Running back Christian McCaffrey remains out with Achilles tendonitis.
