Once again we’ve dug into our photo archives, this time to take a look at San Francisco Giants’ Brandon Crawford’s high school sports career.
Crawford was born in Mountain View, and lived with his family in Menlo Park before moving to Pleasanton for his elementary and high school years. He graduated from Foothill High School in 2005 and was three-sport athlete playing football, basketball and baseball.
Crawford was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the fourth round of the 2008 MLB draft and has played with the team since he was called up to the majors in 2011. He grew up a Giants fan and his family bought season tickets and a commemorative brick in Willie Mays Plaza when the then Pac Bell Park opened in 2000.
In his major league debut, Crawford became the sixth player in MLB history and the second player in Giants history along with Bobby Bonds to hit a grand slam home run in his first game. He has two World Series championships under his belt with the Giants, beating the Detroit Tigers in 2012 and the Kansas City Royals in 2014.
