San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks predictions
NFL Week Six could get off to an entertaining start with the NFC West clash between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.
The 49ers remain the favourites to win the NFC again after their Super Bowl appearance last year, but they have lost three of their first five outings this season, so need to raise their game in this key divisional clash.
They are still without star running back Christian McCaffrey, and defensive injuries have been a problem for the 49ers. On top of that this is a tough trip to make on a short turnaround against a division rival also with plenty to prove.
The Seahawks suffered a defensive meltdown on Sunday, giving up 24 first downs and 420 total yards to a Giants team missing their star wide receiver, Malik Nabers. Two of their best defensive linemen remain unavailable and their secondary is also dealing with a number of injuries.
Seattle’s offence should be able to bounce back, though, and in what looks a close contest, the Seahawks could be the pick as home underdogs. Even so, the best bet on the game should be to go over on total points.
Brock Purdy is likely to have plenty of time to find his receivers and the 49ers quarterback can be deadly in that situation, while Jordan Mason is averaging 107.2 rushing yards per game filling in for McCaffrey.
The San Francisco pass-rush is not the force it was last season due to injuries and while Seattle QB Geno Smith took seven sacks against the Giants he should have more time to find talented receivers DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba this week.
