The University of California, San Francisco has announced a $40 million gift from investor Ron Conway and his wife and sons toward construction of an outpatient medical facility at its new UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay.
Named in recognition of the family’s gift, the UCSF Ron Conway Family Gateway Medical Building will house a 289-bed hospital complex and will provide emergency and outpatient services for women, children, and cancer patients. Expected to draw more than fifteen hundred outpatient visits daily, the facility also will serve as a teaching facility for UCSF students.
Scheduled to open on February 1, the $1.5 billion UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay comprises UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco, UCSF Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital, and UCSF Bakar Cancer Hospital.
Ron Conway, founder of SV Angel and a board member of the Salesforce.com Foundation, serves on the UCSF Medical Center campaign cabinet and was a member of the UCSF Foundation board of directors for several years.

The Conways have been generous not just through financial gifts but with their time, introducing UCSF to their colleagues throughout the technology sector and Silicon Valley in order to advance our mission of care, research, and education.”
