In what promises to be a significant addition to the sports bar landscape in San Francisco, Thrive City is set to welcome Splash at Thrive City, a mammoth 30,000-square-foot sports bar adjacent to the Chase Center. Scheduled to open its doors in early 2025, this bar is the product of a collaboration between Thrive City and Sidecar Hospitality, according to information released by Chase Center. Splash aims to extend beyond a traditional sports viewing space, touting features like an 840 square-foot curved LED wall, four bars, and an array of indoor and outdoor areas for every type of fan.
With over 75 televisions to ensure no second of action is missed, the venue’s commitment to technology and experience is designed to make fans feel like they’ve been submerged, quite literally, into the splendor of live sports. As a first for the Bay Area, it will include a video ticker around the venue’s ground level, announcing scores and breaking news, as detailed on its Splash Sports Bar Instagram page.
Matching the beefed-up AV capabilities, Splash will also feature a “Media Room” and a “Rec Room” to host games from golf simulators to foosball tables. Innovation pours into their menu with drinks overseen by Kevin Diedrich, acknowledged as a 2024 James Beard Award finalist for “Outstanding Bar.” His expertise lends Splash an elevated beverage program featuring everything from craft beers to regional wine selections, as the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Andy Chun, Sidecar’s co-founder, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We really wanted this to be not even the next best thing to being in an arena, just a different experience for fans of any sport,” as he told the San Francisco Chronicle. Chun and his team see the launch of Splash at Thrive City as an opportunity to script a new narrative for San Francisco that counters the recent trend of closures and adds vibrancy to the local dining scene.
