PHILADELPHIA – Eagles tight end Grant Calcaterra saw himself among several players at his position while attending “Tight End University,” a camp run by prominent tight ends like George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. Calcaterra absorbed as much knowledge as he could from everyone there, and it began to show in his game during training camp, eventually earning him the backup tight end spot behind starter Dallas Goedert.
With Goedert’s availability in jeopardy for Sunday’s game against the Giants at MetLife Stadium due to a hamstring injury, Calcaterra has a chance to start, showcase what he’s learned, and become a bigger factor in the offense. While Calcaterra couldn’t pinpoint one specific thing he learned that has improved his play, he said it has helped him this season.
