San Francisco’s roughly 200 superior court clerks launched a one-day strike Thursday to protest what they say is court management’s refusal to negotiate on under-staffing and training issues.
More than 99% of the criminal and civil clerks, represented by the Service Employees International Union 1021, voted two weeks ago to authorize the strike, according to a union press release. The staffing problems have caused the dismissal of more than 70 misdemeanor cases, the union said.
