The San Francisco Small Business Commission (SBC) recently honored 11 more businesses titled Legacy Business. This addition brings the total to 427 businesses on the Legacy Business Registry since its inception in 2015. Recognized for their enduring presence and cultural significance within the community, these establishments can now access various support initiatives, including rent stabilization grants and educational resources, to ensure their continued operation in the city.
Mayor London N. Breed expressed affection for these businesses, describing them as contributors to the “character, history, and unique charm” in every San Francisco neighborhood and lauding their impact on economic vitality through services, employment, and more. |According to the City and County of San Francisco, Small Business Commission President Cynthia Huie, reflecting on her Bay Area upbringing and current role as a business owner, voiced gratitude for the support the Legacy Business program extends to long-standing community institutions.
The newly minted Legacy Businesses list spans a range of services and locations across the city. Included are the Italian eatery Da Flora, the eco-conscious fabric store Fabrix, the comprehensive Indian grocery New India Bazar, and Oscar’s Photo Lab. Nonprofit PACT Inc., catering to local students, and the cherished San Francisco destination for pet indulgence, Russian Hill Dog Grooming, also cut. Seafood lovers can revel in Sabella and La Torre’s world-renowned garlic crab, while Savoy Tivoli is an iconic bar in the community. Shaw Shoes and Ten-Ichi Restaurant, revered for their specialty offerings in footwear and homestyle Japanese cuisine, respectively, are joined by the historical repository Treasure Island Museum on the prestigious list.
