San Francisco: A 6.0 magnitude earthquake shook the area 279 kilometres west of Bandon, Oregon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The quake occurred at 1:15 pm on Wednesday, with its epicentre located at a depth of 10 kilometres off the coast.
The coordinates of the epicentre were reported as 43.544 degrees north latitude and 127.799 degrees west longitude. Fortunately, there is no tsunami warning or threat, and the USGS indicates that the chances of injuries are low.
The agency also mentioned that aftershocks—smaller earthquakes that happen after the main quake—are likely to continue in the area.
