Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur hasn’t been able to beat the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs. Perhaps he’ll have better fortune against Kyle Shanahan in the regular season.
After a 2-2 start, the Packers have won five of their last six games. Included in that stretch is Sunday’s 20-19 victory over the Chicago Bears, thanks to a blocked field goal on the game’s last play.
The 49ers are seeking a third straight victory on the road despite a 5-5 record. Star running back Christian McCaffrey has returned to the 49ers offense after spending most of the season on injured reserve and has 213 total yards over his first two games. San Francisco lost at home last week, though, 20-17 to Seattle.

Jaire Alexander injury update
Despite Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander playing only 10 snaps in the first half Sunday in the victory over the Bears, he apparently didn’t aggravate his knee injury during the game.
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is second in the NFC in passing yards, so a healthier Alexander at cornerback would be a welcome sight.

Christian McCaffrey update
After missing the first eight games with Achilles tendinitis, 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has returned to his starting running back spot.
“You know, to miss time with injury is always tough. It’s not an excuse. But I know I can be a lot better. I feel it. It’s coming. I just got to get rolling,” McCaffrey said after Sunday’s loss to Seattle.
He had 23 touches (with 19 runs) for 106 total yards. He had 107 total yards the previous week.
Packers-49ers last meeting
49ers 24, Packers 21: Costly mistakes led to a Packers loss in the NFC divisional round last January. It was LaFleur’s third playoff loss against former boss Shanahan.
Jordan Love had a chance to drive the Packers within field-goal range in the final minute, but he threw late and over the middle to Christian Watson and was intercepted by Dre Greenlaw to seal the 49ers’ win.
