SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A Starbucks in Pacific Heights is closing after more than 30 years of operating in the San Francisco neighborhood, a company spokesperson confirmed to KRON4. The coffee shop at 2222 Fillmore St. will be closed when its lease ends on Dec. 1.
The Fillmore Street Starbucks first opened back in 1993, according to city records. It is one of the oldest Starbucks in the state. The Seattle-based coffee chain reportedly opened its first California location in 1991.
Starbucks referred to this upcoming closure as a “standard course of business.”
Supervisor pushes to make troubled Fillmore Safeway into affordable housing site
As part of Starbucks standard course of business, we continually evaluate our business to ensure a healthy store portfolio. After careful consideration, we’ve determined it is best to close the store at 2222 Fillmore Street at lease end. All Starbucks partners (employees) have been given the opportunity to transfer to a neighboring store of their choice. We look forward to serving our customers at our nearby locations.

It is unknown what will replace Starbucks. According to the San Francisco Planning Commission, no applications from a prospective tenant have been filed. However, officials say “that doesn’t necessarily mean that one isn’t in the works.”
Starbucks says employees at the closing location have the opportunity to transfer to a nearby store of their choice.
Customers of the closing Fillmore location don’t have to go far to get Starbucks. The closest location is about two blocks away at 2435 California St.
