There has been a notable slowdown in net immigration into the US during the second half of 2024, according to research from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
Net international immigration fell by half a million from 2023 to 2024, but was still high by historical standards, says the author Evgeniya Duzhak. The paper finds the slowdown was due to fewer undocumented entries along the southern border.
