The first-place Buffalo Bills are on a six-game winning streak and getting healthier. The last-place San Francisco 49ers have dropped two straight games and are beleaguered by injuries.
Buffalo has Super Bowl aspirations and San Francisco played in the Super Bowl last year but is fighting for its playoff life.
The Bills (9-2) host the 49ers (5-6) at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday Night Football.
Buffalo is coming off a bye week, which has benefited several players on the mend. Wide receiver Keon Coleman, tight end Dalton Kincaid and offensive tackle Spencer Brown all missed the Bills’ 30-21 victory over the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 17. Linebacker Matt Milano has eased into practice since his 21-day window on injured reserve was opened by the Bills on Nov. 11. Defensive tackle DeWayne Carter is eligible to return off injured reserve.
San Francisco played without four key players – quarterback Brock Purdy, left tackle Trent Williams, defensive end Nick Bosa and cornerback Charvarius Ward – and was clobbered 38-10 by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Purdy is nursing a shoulder injury and if he can’t go, Brandon Allen will start again for the 49ers. Allen is 2-8 in his career as a starter.
The 49ers expected to have Purdy under center against the Packers but he wasn’t able to practice on the Friday before the game. Purdy did light throwing on Monday but it’s unknown if he’ll be able to play against the Bills.
“Hopefully (the shoulder) responds better this week than it did last week with the rest,” San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said in his Monday conference call.
San Francisco plans to open the 21-day practice window for linebacker Drew Greenlaw, Shanahan said. Offensive guard Jon Feliciano will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the year.
NFL teams have to submit a report on practice participation on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for a Sunday game. There are three levels of practice participation that can be designated: did not participate, limited participation and full participation.
A game status report is due by 5 p.m. Friday for Sunday games.
Here is the Bills vs. 49ers injury report for Week 13:
Buffalo Bills injury update for Week 13
Keon Coleman, WR, wrist
Keon Coleman has missed two straight games with an injured wrist.
Coleman hurt his right wrist on a receiving end of a helmet-to-helmet hit by Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer on the Bills’ game-winning drive on Nov. 3 in Week 9. Poyer was flagged for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on the hit, which jarred the ball loose on a deep pass attempt from Josh Allen. The penalty extended Buffalo’s drive, enabling Tyler Bass’ 61-yard field goal for the 30-27 win.
Coleman held his wrist as he walked to the sideline. He headed to the locker room in the final seconds and was wearing a brace on the wrist after the game.
The Bills elected not to place Coleman on injured reserve, which would have required him to miss a minimum of four games.
Amari Cooper, WR, wrist
Amari Cooper missed two games with a left wrist injury but returned to make two catches for 55 yards in the Week 11 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Cooper made a one-handed reception for 30 yards using his left hand in the first quarter.

“He did some light throwing today and it went all good,” Shanahan said Monday. “Well see how he feels as the week goes.
Purdy plans to rest Tuesday.
“We rested it throughout the weekend hoping that would help. He threw lighter today to see if that rest helped and it the rest did help him,” Shanahan said. “We’ll see how it feels on Wednesday and take the exact same course throughout the week. Hopefully it responds better this week than it did last week.”

Nick Bosa has been hampered by injuries to both hips and obliques for a month and did not play against Green Bay in Week 12.

“Just waiting to see how they respond,” 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said of Bosa and offensive tackle Trent Williams. “They didn’t respond great last week, that’s why they weren’t able to go. Nick and Trent are both in the same boat.
