A Santa Rosa man has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with a fatal high-speed crash in San Francisco that killed two women, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced Wednesday.
Jayden Elliot Patrick, 21, was arrested early Monday after officials say he was the driver of a vehicle that collided with another vehicle at Grafton and Jules avenues in the Ingleside District .
He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Jenkins said.
She added in a news release Wednesday that besides the two murder counts her office officially charged Patrick with reckless driving, three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and allegations that he caused “great bodily injury.”
Patrick was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon. Details of the hearing were not immediately available.
However, according to jail records, Patrick is being held in the San Francisco County Jail without bond. He is scheduled for another court hearing on Dec. 5.
According to San Francisco Police, shortly before 1:30 a.m. Monday, responding officers found two women in one of the vehicles at the crash site. Both had suffered life-threatening injuries.
Emergency medical personnel treated them but both died at the scene, officials said. They added that the other vehicle contained four people, three of whom were hospitalized, one with life-threatening injuries.
Patrick, the driver of this vehicle, was arrested at the scene, according to the DA’s news release.
Representatives of the San Francisco Police Department and Patrick’s attorney could not be immediately reached for comment Wednesday night.
Jenkins, in the release, called the case “a tragic reminder that drinking, driving and speeding are a lethal combination with devastating impacts.”
The investigation into this crash is ongoing.
