Announced celebrities include Hayden Christensen of “Star Wars”; Vincent D’Onofrio, known for starring in “Full Metal Jacket” and more recently as Kingpin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Bruce Campbell from the “Evil Dead” film series; Giancarlo Esposito of “Breaking Bad” and Francis Ford Coppola’s forthcoming epic “Megapolis”; Kate Mulgrew of “Star Trek”; and animator Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon’s “The Fairly OddParents.”
The annual three-day pop culture convention, scheduled for Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 at Moscone Center West, also plans to feature controversial actors Randy Quaid, known for roles in “Independence Day” and the National Lampoon’s “Vacation” films, and Richard Dreyfuss, star of “Jaws” and “Close Encounters of The Third Kind.”
Quaid made headlines after being detained by Canadian authorities in 2015 and fleeing the U.S. with his wife, Evi, citing persecution and claiming threats from “Hollywood Star Whackers.” Recently, he has made appearances at events for former President Donald Trump and defendants of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
As for Dreyfuss, the Oscar-winner caused a stir at a “Jaws”-themed event in May when he made demeaning remarks about women, LGBTQ+ people, the #MeToo movement and the Academy Awards’ diversity efforts, saying they “make me want to vomit.”
The stars are among nearly 20 celebrities scheduled to meet fans, sign autographs and participate in live panels. Additional guests and details about panels and gatherings will be announced in the coming months.
Tickets starting at $35 are available on the Fan Expo website, with autographs and photo opportunities generally costing extra.
