The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly set to add two tight ends but will lose two others in the process of NFL free agency and the offseason.
After Jacksonville released tight end Evan Engram, the team has also now lost tight end Luke Farell via free agency. Farrell will reportedly sign with the San Francisco 49ers when the new league year begins on Wednesday, March 12 at 4 p.m.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Farrell is expected to sign a three-year contract worth up to $20.250 million with $11 million in guaranteed money with the Bay Area team.
Farrell was originally drafted by the Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s operated primarily as a blocking tight end.
Farrell played in 66 games (20 starts) in Jacksonville, totaling 36 catches for 318 yards.
The Jaguars are expected to sign Los Angeles Rams tight end Hunter Long and Minnesota Vikings tight end Johnny Mundt at the start of the new league year to replace the voids left by Engram and Farrell.
