Cloverleaf High School alum Kyle Juszczyk will likely be moving on from the San Francisco 49ers with a year remaining on his contract, according to an ESPN report.
Juszczyk will be informed of his release Tuesday, likely a salary cap casualty. He spent eight years playing for the 49ers, mainly serving as a ferocious blocker from his fullback position. Juszczyk and San Francisco almost split last year before he agreed to take a pay cut. His release will save the team close to $3 million against the cap.
The 49ers are making changes after disappointing 2024 season. They traded Deebo Samuel and, according to reports, they have to clear cap room to sign starting quarterback Brock Purdy.
In his eight years with the 49ers, Juszczyk rushed for 212 yards on 60 attempts and was known for being able to get the tough yards. But he also caught 184 passes for 1,895 yards for 10.3 yards per catch. He scored 18 touchdowns for the 49ers.

Prior to arriving in San Franciso, he spent four years with the Baltimore Ravens. His career stats: 237 rushing yards on 67 carries, 281 receptions for 2664 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Juszczyk will likely look to continue his career elsewhere. In a 2023 interview the Beacon Journal, he said that he had the same “drive and giddiness to go into work every day.” He planned to play out his contract which would have ended in 2025.
It’s a stance he maintained until the end of last season.
“I know I’m not done,” Juszczyk said in an ESPN interview Jan. 5. “I’m definitely not done playing. I’ve seen zero regression. I think especially, I mean, you can turn on the last two games and please show me where I’ve regressed, so I have no plans of stopping.”
And there’s a fundamental reason for that.
“To really put an exclamation point on my career, I’ve got to get a Super Bowl win,” Juszczyk told the Beacon Journal in 2023 “And that really is the main focus here. “I need to get a ring, or there always will be that little something missing to my career.”
